Other Projects

NKLA was the first project of the UCLA Center for Neighborhood Knowledge. You are encouraged to visit some of our more recent online information systems that focus on (1) housing, (2) health and human services, (3) resources for persons with disabilities, and (4) demographic and related data. Click below to access some of our more recent projects.

Neighborhood Knowledge California
NKCA is an innovative online tool for neighborhood research in California. Coupling a user-friendly mapping interface with colorful charts and maps, NKCA empowers people - in need of timely, local data to produce quick reports. NKCA's wider goals are to promote greater equity in housing and banking policy by providing a set of web-based tools for documenting and analyzing trends, maps and data. The ranges of indicators that are presented on NKCA include mortgage lending, population, housing, income etc.
Living Independently in Los Angeles
LILA is a consumer directed and regionally focused online project to benefit people with disabilities in Los Angeles County. LILA is a GIS-based, interactive information resource site, created by local residents with disabilities using their personal "expert knowledge" to identify map and local independent living resources. Through collaborative efforts with local government, the LILA information system also incorporates public databases relevant to the disability community. LILA provides the disability community of Los Angeles County with new information technology tools to empower efforts to successfully merge into the social physical and political fabric of their communities.
Land Opportunities Tracking System
LA LOTS is taking its first steps towards becoming a comprehensive information portal for land/development analysis, specializing on the City of Los Angeles, but ultimately serving areas throughout the County of Los Angeles. The interactive portal provides a platform for users to query as well as spatially map areas that might be appropriate for infill housing development.
Healthy City
Healthy City is an interactive website designed with a mission to improve the ability of low-income, underserved children, adolescents, and their families to access services and advocate for critical resources in their neighborhoods and communities. On this website users can search for health and human service assets in Los Angeles County and create custom maps of those services. Users can locate information by service category or through service agencies in their neighborhoods.
